Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy involves the use of one’s hands to improve mobility of joints and soft tissues. Various techniques, such as joint mobilizations or orthopedic manipulations (known in the human health field as chiropractic), soft tissue mobilizations, massage, and passive range of motion techniques help to decrease pain and inflammation and optimize function. Manual therapy is an effective and non-invasive treatment option. Most patients become very relaxed during the treatments, and beneficial results are often noticed within 24 hours of the treatment.

Conditions that can be treated with manual therapy include:

  • Muscle spasms

  • Soft tissue injuries

  • Edema (swelling)

  • Pain

  • Facet joint dysfunction and decreased joint mobility (chiropractic issues)

  • Postural dysfunction (eg. Roached back)
